Korbach, August 2024. Rocky soils in mountainous terrain pose a particular challenge when installing an electric fence. It is also difficult to achieve sufficient earthing in these conditions. horizont Animal Care offers an ideal solution package for this challenge: by combining the hotshock® AN490 electric fence energiser with turbomax® high energy braided nets, you can fence mountain pastures effectively.
The powerful hotshock® AN490 electric fence energiser is the ultimate tool for securely containing long-haired animals and offers flexible power supply options: it can be operated either from 230 V mains power or a 12 V rechargeable battery. There is also the option of powering the unit with a solar panel for greater independence and more environmentally friendly operation.
Up to 14 nets of 50 metres each
The hotshock® AN490 electric fence energiser can provide sufficient power for up to 14 nets, each 50 metres long. For optimum fence security, horizont recommends using three earthing rods, each 1.5 m long. The electric fence energiser features a deep-discharge cut-off to protect the rechargeable battery, as well as a fence insulation indicator and a three-stage LED display showing the condition of the fence and the battery capacity. Thanks to the special energy-saving circuit, the power consumption of the hotshock® AN490 electric fence energiser adjusts to the condition of the electric fence.
Braided, not twisted
To complement the powerful electric fence energiser, horizont recommends innovative netting: the turbomax® high energy braided sheep net uses a braided strand. Since this year, the net has also been available in a height of 120 cm for more effective protection against wolves. Unlike conventional nets, the conductive material in the braided strand is braided into the PE plastic monofilaments. This provides excellent protection against wear and improves the tensile strength of the net.
Earth conductor in the bottom strand
In addition, the turbomax® high energy braided is equipped with an earth conductor in the bottom strand, ensuring good earthing even on rocky terrain and dry soils and therefore providing the best possible fence security. For stability and easy insertion into the ground, the sheep net features a double spike. The net is now available in three heights: 90 cm, 105 cm and 120 cm.
