horizont Chicken drinkers

There are many different types of chicken drinkers. To help you find the right drinker for your chickens, we have compiled a brief overview here.

Why do chickens need a drinker?

Most people think that an open watering hole is sufficient to meet the water needs of the chickens. This may be the case, but chickens, like quails and ducks, drink from the water surface. Here the risk of contamination is greater, whereby your animals could pick up germs and become ill. Depending on your needs, you can find the right chicken drinker to ensure comfortable and clean drinking for your chickens.

What models of chicken drinkers are available?

There are many different types of drinkers for chickens, so it is important that you choose the right one. To help you, here is a brief overview of the different models:

Inverted drinkers

Inverted drinkers are ideal for hobby farmers as well as professional poultry breeders. In our range you will find various models in different sizes and capacities. The handle makes transporting the drinker particularly easy and convenient. The feet provide elevation and prevent contamination of the water.

Advantages:

  • Inexpensive and easy to clean
  • The transparent top allows you to easily check the water level

Automatic chicken drinkers

The fully automatic drinkers are filled by means of a hose connection and low-pressure principle via a water tank. This model is particularly suitable for laying and fattening farms, as large flocks of chickens can be supplied with water.

Advantages:

  • Continuous water supply
  • Low maintenance
  • No constant refilling of the water

Siphon drinkers

Siphon drinkers are ideal for supplying water to large flocks of chickens. However, they can also supply a smaller group of chickens with water over several days. Due to the integrated feet, the water bowl is elevated and water contamination is avoided.

Advantages:

  • Large water supply
  • Can be conveniently filled from above

Chick drinkers

Due to the size of the chicks, you need drinkers that are lower down so they can reach you for the water.

Advantages:

  • Narrow drinking trough so that chicks, especially quail chicks, do not drown.

Nipple drinkers

With nipple drinkers, you need to pay attention to the height at which you fix the nipple drinker so that each chicken has free access to the water.

Advantages:

  • Can also be used as drinking systems in combination with various containers
  • Versatile use
  • Low cleaning effort

Different materials

In our online shop you can choose between poultry drinkers made of plastic or metal. Both designs are extremely robust and easy to clean. A special feature of our range is the "green series". The drinkers are made from 100% renewable resources and are therefore particularly ecological and environmentally friendly.

How big should the poultry drinker be?

The water supply is one of the most important factors in poultry farming. It is not possible to say in general terms how much water the animals need. The water requirement depends on the breed of chickens kept, the season and the type of feed. Find out in advance about your chickens and how much water they need in order to choose the right drinker.

Drinker warmer

When temperatures are low, there is a risk that the water will freeze. To prevent this, heating plates are a good solution. This will prevent the water from freezing and your chickens will always have a fresh water supply.
