The ranger® AN490 electric fence energiser - the ultimate solution for farmers and hobby livestock owners who demand the highest standards of safety, flexibility and energy efficiency.
The powerful device can be operated simultaneously on 230 V mains power and a 12 V battery. In the event of a mains power failure, the battery ensures uninterrupted operation. As an option, the device can also be operated with a solar panel, providing you with a sustainable and self-sufficient power supply. Our electric fence has a deep discharge cut-off function that effectively protects your battery.
The innovative 6-mode function allows you to set the pulse sequence for your fence according to your individual requirements. The ‘Impulse Control’ function ensures additional safety for people and animals by automatically switching off the electric fence energiser or reducing the output energy if the pulses are emitted too quickly.
The ‘System Control’ fence insulation display shows you the insulation status of your electric fence in 6 levels so that you are always informed about the safety of your fence. The convenient on/off button on the device makes operation considerably easier and saves you the hassle of fence switches, unplugging the plug or disconnecting the battery.
The 3-stage ‘Energy Control’ LED display offers a quick check of the battery capacity and also shows you the activity of the electric fence energiser by flashing in time with the pulse output. Thanks to the special energy-saving circuit, the power consumption of the device adapts to the fence, resulting in lower energy consumption, a reduced environmental impact and lower costs.
The two fence outputs offer different output energies for flexible operation of large and small pastures. The clear 6-stage LED voltage display makes it easy to monitor the electric fence from a distance. In addition, the output energy level is automatically adjusted to ensure optimum performance.
The ranger® AN490 electric fence energisers are made of high-quality plastics and are UV-resistant, splash-proof, torsion-resistant, impact-resistant and oil-resistant. This guarantees many years of durability, even under demanding conditions.
With a capacity for fence lengths of up to 20 km, the ranger® AN490 is the ideal choice for large grazing areas. For optimum fence security, we recommend installing the device with 3 ground stakes of 1.5 m each.

- Warning of electrical voltage
- This warning stands for possible harmful situations caused by electrical voltage, which can lead to serious injury or death if not observed!
- Fire hazard warning
- Warning - there is a risk of smouldering fire if heat builds up. The appliance must not be covered by materials etc. during operation, as this can lead to heat build-up and possibly to fire. Therefore, do not install in areas at risk of fire (e.g. hay and straw stores)
- Warning! Repairs may only be carried out by qualified persons. Only the replacement parts specified by the manufacturer may be used. We reserve the right to make technical changes!
- Please do not cover the electric fence with a plastic bag. Fire hazard due to overheating

Repair service
Reliable, competent and fast contact
Good service plays a major role at horizont. In our in-house repair workshop, experts are available to assist you with words and deeds. In case of a defect or damage of your device (e.g. due to lightning strike or moisture ingress), horizont's technical service will be at your disposal at short notice.
Many of horizont's specialized trade partners can repair your device on site thanks to simple modular construction or your device will be repaired in the service center in Korbach and you will be helped with a loaner device during the short repair time (usually 48 hours).
During the subsequent safety inspection, all components of the device are tested and you receive a one-year warranty on the complete device.
