Leg splint for calves
- Washable and extra durable plastic
- Interior padding for optimal fit
- Adjustable and reusable
The calf leg splint should not be missing in any cattle farmer's medicine cabinet. In a study conducted by the Universities of Munich and Bern, 13.6% of the calves examined were found to have a tendonous plantar fascia (2007). The calf leg splint fixes the fetlock joint of affected calves, allowing them to stand and walk straight on the front claw(s).
The leg splint should be placed with the bottom edge close to the ground to stretch the calf's fetlock joint. For the condition to improve, the splint should be left on the leg for 2 to 4 weeks. Because of the leg splint, treatment can be done without casts or bandages and the calf can move freely with the splint. The internal padding and the safety Velcro fasteners ensure an optimal fit of the calf leg splint. In addition, the splint is individually adjustable due to the Velcro fasteners and is reusable, as the ABS plastic is also washable and particularly durable.
The calf's own mobility regained with the splint significantly increases animal welfare and saves you time in caring for the individual calf. You can spend this time on other activities on the farm, for example, so that all animals are well cared for.
